Stanley Raymond Kowalski is an undercover cop who's faced the worst Chicago can offer and come out on top. He's not above
bending the rules, but only in the pursuit of justice. Stan is street smart and nobody's fool, but he's far from being a cynic. An
impulsive man, he follows his heart when his head tells him it might be wiser not to get involved. He'd never brag about it, but
he's won several citations for bravery.
On the romantic front, Stan's life has not worked out so well. He married his childhood sweetheart Stella, a conservative girl
from the right side of the tracks, who became an Assistant States Attorney. He thought their marriage was fine-they lived life
well. Then it all fell apart. Stan wanted kids, and Stella didn't, at least not yet.
When Ray Vecchio went on a deep undercover assignment, Stan assumed Vecchio's identity in order to protect his cover. Stan
was the ideal candidate--his retired parents lived out of state, he barely saw his extremely successful brother and his marriage was
on the rocks. He jumped at the chance to start a new life, no strings attached.
But it's not that easy to leave the past behind. Working with his ex-wife rekindles all his hopes and doubts from his failed
marriage. Stan also finds that his life is complicated by Ray's past, including Ray's large, affectionate family. Thinking he was
starting a new life, Stan soon finds himself saddled with all the errors and omissions of Ray's past. As old criminals and cases
come back to haunt him, Fraser is there, helping clear his friend's good name.
As they risk life and limb together, like it or not, Stan finds himself at the beginning of a beautiful friendship?
