Lois looked at Berine in shock as she sat besides him on the bench in the police station.  How could he have kept such a thing from her and not tell her, she thought to herself.  "It's all too much to believe.  Our son gets tommorrow's paper today, and he uses it to help people?  Bernie, you should've told me the minute you found out!  I can't believe you kept it from me.  I'm your wife. I have the right to know these things about our son," she finally said, her anger begining to disappear a little.

Bernie nodded.  "I know Lois.  I know.  I didn't t hink you couldn't handle it if I told you about Gary and the paper. He didn't even want you to know about it, and made me promise not to tell you," he told her messing with his handcuffs.

"You didn't think I could handle it.  Bernie, we've been married a very long time now.  I think I can handle things like this pretty good.  I'll have a talk with Gary about his not wanting me to know about his getting the paper later.  How did you find out?"

"I told you: I found out when I visited Gary last year.  I'm sorry I didn't tell you.  I know I should have, but he really didn't want you to know about it.  He didn't even like the idea of me knowing about it."

Lois sighed. "Alright.  Enough of this.  I'm going to see Chuck and Marissa, and find out if they know anything about this."

"Are you going to bail me out Lois?"

Lois stood up.  "No.  You can just stay here for a while, and think about what you've done.  I promise to bail you out sometime, but not right now.  Next time Bernie, you tell me the minute you know.  Okay?"

Bernie nodded again.  "Okay.  I promise Lois."

"Good.  I'll see you later."

She walked past the front desk telling the clerk to keep Bernie in jail a little longer.

The End
