Response to Newbie Challenge

All disclaimers apply. The character of Gary Hobson does not belong to me. He  belongs to CBS, TriStar, and other production companies that I'm forgetting.  I am purely using the character and his "situation" for enjoyment. I get no money for this story.

Response to Newbie Challenge

"Meg, you seem to have all the luck when it comes to men."

Meg looked at her best friend, Tess, and laughed out loud. "Oh please!" she cried. "Have you forgotten about the one that tried to steal from me, the one that soon after we broke up went to prison, or the one that cheated on me with that VIOLIN player from the symphony?"

Tess smiled. "Well," she said, trying to cover. "Without those little exceptions."

Meg shook her head. She pulled her purse strap back up onto her shoulder. Suddenly, her bag was ripped from her hands. "Hey!" she yelled. She tried to run after the purse-snatcher, but quickly lost him in the crowd. "Where's my knight in shining armor, now?" As soon as the words had escaped her mouth she saw a man run by them at full speed.

Tess looked at her, eyebrows raised. "He's not bad," she said.

"How could you tell?" Meg asked. "He sped by us like a freight train."

"He'll be back," Tess said, playing with the snap on her pocket UMBRELLA. "You'll see."

"I'll see? Tess, you need to have your head examined. Pretty soon you'll start to think that those pink lawn FLAMINGOs are attractive."

"What? You don't like them?"

The friends laughed. "Come on," Meg said, digging through her coat pockets for change. "I have to report my credit cards stolen," she said, a slight hint of annoyance in her voice.

"No you don't," Gary said, coming up behind them, panting. "This is yours, isn't it?"

"Yeah," Meg said, taking her purse from Gary. "Thank you," she began, letting her words trail off.

"Gary. Gary Hobson."
