Goldfingers Bar & Nightclub |
"I might be in there only once a week, but, like, the other week I got a call saying that Robert de Niro was in if I wanted to go down," says Quinn of the bar he co-owns with fellow Irishman Mark Leddy in a July 1999 interview with the Irish Times. "And this bar isn't in the greatest area, it hasn't got that kind of Sunset chic. But the magazine on Virgin flights recommends only Goldfingers and the Viper Room, Johnny Depp's place, as cool bars to go to, so it's getting that kind of reputation."
Goldfingers opened in early December, 1996 and at a chat in August, 2000 Quinn stressed to fans that "I don't really run Goldfingers. I want to get that straight with people. I'm the silent partner. I go in there maybe once a week with friends, and just try to be as silent as possible."
From The LA Times:
Decorated in more gold lamé than Elvis, this tiny bar in the heart of Hollywood is a favorite among underground scenesters for live bands and dancing. The crowds vary depending on the night's theme, and don't be surprised if things get totally out of control. Performances range from outrageous over-the-top glam, rock and pop bands, drag queen revues, swanky lounge acts and acoustic tortured souls. Celebrity deejays are featured on certain nights and they spinning everything from funk to glam rock. With low cover charges and good talent, the club has provided a nice musical haven in what has been known as a not-so-nice part of town. It's the hard-core club crawlers' place to go both to see and be seen.
