It's every red-blooded American male's dream to be either a secret agent or a superhero. In UPN's new action-adventure drama, JAKE 2.0, Jake Foley gets his shot to be both when he is infected by nanites—based on nanotechnology, the real life break-through technology in development that reduces the size of computers to the molecular level.
Jake's day job is providing tech support at the super-secret National Security Agency (NSA), but his dream is to become an NSA secret agent—a dream that surprisingly and disturbingly comes true after a freak accident at the Agency. When inexplicable things start to happen to Jake, he learns that he was exposed to a liquid containing the top-secret nanites, which are now giving him mind-boggling powers—superhuman strength, lightning-fast speed, heightened hearing, razor sharp vision and the telepathic abilities to communicate with computers. This development sends shockwaves through several major players at the NSA: Kyle Duarte, an intense and talented former field agent now working behind a desk; Louise "Lou" Beckett, a powerful senior agent, and Diane Hughes, a research doctor desperate to understand Jake's unlimited powers.
Presented with the superhuman Jake, a remarkable but untested new asset, the NSA authorizes the creation of a new Special Ops division with him at its core. Jake realizes his dream has finally come true, but at a price—now he has to straddle two different worlds: the treacherous life of being the world's mightiest secret agent while keeping his new powers hidden from the outside world, including friends, family and the beautiful congressional staffer, Sarah Carter, for whom he secretly pines.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Jake was working as an NSA tech support technician when a freak accident made him the first-ever human test subject for a secret government experiment involving nanites—microscopic, self-replicating computers. The nanites give Jake extraordinary powers, including enhanced strength, speed, stamina, and the ability to wirelessly interface with technology. However, even as enhanced as he is, Jake is still human, and still learning to cope with both the limitations of his new abilities and his new position as a field agent at the center of an NSA Special Ops unit. |

Kyle Duarte was a top NSA field agent until his cover was compromised. Lou's right-hand, Kyle personally supervises Jake's training and while they began with a mentor-student relationship, the two have become friends. |

Louise "Lou" Beckett is the head of Field Operations for the NSA, and lives and breathes the motto "In God We Trust, all others we monitor." Unafraid to exploit any advantage presented to her in order to do her job, she nonetheless cares deeply for her team and Jake. |

Dr. Diane Hughes spent three years working under Dr. Gage, before the latter was killed while trying to sell the nanotechnology research to an IRA terrorist. Inheriting the project, Diane at first struggles right along with Jake, finding her bearings in her new position. However, she soon proves that no one knows the technology better, and she and Jake become extremely close. |

Sarah Carter attended Georgetown with Jake, seemingly unaware that the entire four years they went to school together, Jake had been carrying a torch for her. When they meet again years later, she's working as a Congressional Aide investigating DOD funds which were diverted to the NSA for the nanotechnology research. At first unable to look beyond Jake's geeky exterior, his new-found confidence prompts her to wonder if there might be more to Jake than she had previously assumed. However, after a disastrous first date, she bid Jake farewell. |
