"Now, may I have my lighter please?," Marley asked Gary coldly pointly his gun at him. Not knowing what else to do, and not wanting to be shot, Gary handled Marley the lighter, and Marley put it in his pocket. "Now what?,"  Gary asked hoping that he could somehow escape,or perhaps get Marley's gun away from him.

Marley smiled.  "Go over there, sit down, and put your hands behind you. Don't try anything.  I don't want to have to shoot you just yet.  I want to make sure you you can't get away."

Gary did as Marley said, and he could feel the handcuffs being snapped on each of his wrists binding him to the pole. There was no way he could break free.  He couldn't even slide it over the top of the pole because the top was in the roof. He was a prisoner of a madman who was about to kill the president and have him take the blame. Stupid jerk, Gary thought to himself.  I should've not touched that gun.  Now my prints are on it, and they'll think I pulled the trigger. He looked over at Marley getting the gun loaded and ready to shoot.  The angle was perfect. Marley was the same person who had Oslwad kill President Kennedy some 20 years ago, and unless a miracle happen, history was about to repeat itself.  Only this time, Gary would be dead and unable to tell anyone that he didn't kill the president.

Having found out from Marissa and Chuck were Gary was, Crumb and his men raced towards the building in their cars. As soon as they got there, Crumb and the other dectective raced up the stairs to the 13th floor where they found Marley standing at the window and Gary handcuffed to a pole.

"Marley!  Drop the gun!," Crumb ordered his gun aimed at Marley.

Marley only smiled and went to squeeze the triggger.  Crumb fired his gun, and Marley fell to the floor, dead.

Crumb walked over, and after making sure that Marley was dead, turned to Gary. "You okay Hobson?," he asked.

Gary nodded, too stunned to speak at first.

Crumb found the handcuff keys aand tossed them to his partner.  "Here.  Unlock those cuffs, and set Hobson free."

The other detective caught the keys, went behind Gary, and unlocked the cuffs.

The other officers arrrived then, and Crumb took charge.  He had one of his men go call for the corner to remove both dead men's bodies from the room.  He
told everyone not to say anything about what had happened.

Later, Gary sat by the lake in his coat looking out over the water thinking and drinking a hot cup of black coffee. He was glad the whole thing was over, but he never wanted to go through anything like that again in his life.

The End
